Cake Smash

Wow the first year of your little one is almost over - let's celebrate this huge Milestone with a Cake Smash Session in my studio in Killeen !! What to expect, you ask yourself...I can tell you from experience not every child will love the cake or smash the cake and this is totally ok. Some little ones go head first into the cake, devour the sweets and others want to play with it or throw it; and that's ok !

It is a Milestone Session - there is no right or wrong when it comes to capturing your growing child in the moment ! For folks that deal with food allergy or simply don't like sweets yet or have a different favorite food, we always can make out of a cake smash session a Pizza or Spaghetti Munch, we can substitute the cake with fruit - watermelon or strawberries or any favorite food your little one is craving.

WHAT IS THE BOOKING PROCESS WITH KATJA JONES PHOTOGRAPHY

  1. The booking process is fairly easy. Just click on the "SAY HELLO" button and let me know when your child is turning 1, if you have found a theme for the cake smash or non-cake session and what's the best time for you and your little one during the week or weekends only. I recommend lunch time or earlier in the morning for these sessions. Schedule a time that works with their nap schedule if possible !! I' ll get in touch with your and we find the best fitting day and time for the cake smash session.
  2. After scheduling I will send you a booking link, this link contains the contract and deposit request via Paypal. I do require a $200+Tax retainer for all cake smash sessions on my calendar. The Retainer for the cake smash sessions is particularly important because ti allows me to purchase props and backdrops needed for your session.
  3. You are more than welcome to send inspiration images if you have seen something you loved on Pinterest or any other site.
  4. WHAT ABOUT THE CAKE ? - Unfortunately, due to allergies, I do not provide the cake - you do not have to have a professional cake - a good looking cake does not have to be very expensive, make sure to not have red, orange or blue dye in it ! I highly recommend to make sure the frosting is not too sweet and easily to smash, just images many babies never had sweets before their first cake and if the frosting is too sweet most little ones don't like it....
  5. WHAT ABOUT THE OUTFIT ?  This is your choice ! You can bring 2 outfits if you like, I always take images before the cake or food, then with the cake or non-cake and after that I offer a milk bath to slash around and have some fun... so we will have more than enough images to fill a large gallery for you.

WHAT SHOULD I BRING TO THE SESSION? Heere is a quick list of what I have found is helpful to have.

  1. The cake ( defrosted - smash able, not too cold )
  2. The outfit
  3. If you child is wearing a dress, please bring the matching bloomers to cover the diaper.
  4. A sippy cup or a bottle. Little one will be thirsty after.
  5. Cheerios or Yogurt melts, little puffs, as little incentives.
  6. A change of outfit for baby
  7. A change of outfit for YOU ! You may get icing on you
  8. Wipes
  9. Diapers
